From: Stephanie Woolf Subject: Social Security and venting

This country definitely needs to reform its Social Security system. I became very ill and completely disabled at the age of 26.. I year out of college. I am now 32 and JUST NOW got my disability approved. I have Fibromyalgia, liver disease, CFIDS, lupus, and a blood disorder that can be fatal. Only because of my college education and my age, I was denied. It took me this long fighting the system. Only getting approved is half the battle. My attorney got almost all of my back pay and now my Medicare will not kick in until next spring. Until then I receive my SSD BUT I have to spend $500 a month on medical before the state will help cover any medical bills. This then leaves $200 for rent, utilities, food, car payments and insurance not to mention other bills. As we all know this cannot be done on $200.00 left over. So just when you think you win with the system, think again, because there is another catch.

We can send billions of dollars to other countries in aid, when people here are doing without medicines, medical coverage and medical care. It makes no sense to me. I know on this $500 spend down, my medicines alone are over 1000 a month. I also have cardiac diseases so need heart meds, pain meds muscle relaxers for FMS. Sure I can skip those if I had too as pain meds and morphine dont help much..but I cannot skip the blood thinners, the heart meds, the liver meds. Its just an insane system and something needs to change.

If anyone knows of a supplemental prescription drug coverage could you please advise?

I cannot believe they would expect someone to have shelter after making them pay all of their SSD per month for a spend down on medical care. Great, you get the SSD finally but now won't have any funds to live: S
